Yes. Luma starts at complete beginner (A1): she greets you in Romanian, keeps most of the conversation in your own language at first and moves more of it into Romanian as you go. Coach suggestions stay on for beginners, so you always know what you could say next, and the first lessons cover greetings, numbers and everyday phrases.
A lot. Romanian is a Latin language, so half the vocabulary will look familiar and the verbs behave in ways you'll recognise. What's new is that the article is glued onto the end of the word — cafea becomes cafeaua — plus a handful of cases and a layer of Slavic words with no cousin in Spanish or Italian. Luma leans on what you already know and drills the rest.
As you talk, in the transcript. A slip like "cafeaua este bun" is highlighted with the fix beside it, "cafeaua este bună", and a Why? that explains it in a line. The conversation keeps going. Your slips then come back as quick drills, so the fix sticks.
