Yes. Luma starts at complete beginner (A1): she greets you in Hungarian, keeps most of the conversation in your own language at first and moves more of it into Hungarian as you go. Coach suggestions stay on for beginners, so you always know what you could say next, and the first lessons cover greetings, numbers and everyday phrases.
Parts of it are kinder than you'd think: no grammatical gender, spelling that matches the sound, and stress always on the first syllable. The famous part is that Hungarian builds meaning onto the end of the word — Budapest, Budapesten, Budapestre — and the ending shifts to match the vowels already in it. That's a rhythm you pick up by ear, from saying it, far faster than from a chart.
As you talk, in the transcript. A slip like "Budapest lakom" is highlighted with the fix beside it, "Budapesten lakom", and a Why? that explains it in a line. The conversation keeps going. Your slips then come back as quick drills, so the fix sticks.
By practising both, which is the part a phrasebook can't give you.
