Yes. Luma starts at complete beginner (A1): she greets you in Danish, keeps most of the conversation in your own language at first and moves more of it into Danish as you go. Coach suggestions stay on for beginners, so you always know what you could say next, and the first lessons cover greetings, numbers and everyday phrases.
By hearing it far more than you read it. Luma speaks every line out loud at a normal pace, you can play any sentence again as often as you like, and you answer by talking rather than typing — so the gap between the spelling and the sound closes from the side that matters. Swallowed endings and the soft d stop being a surprise once you've said them a few hundred times yourself.
